Once they are long dead, it is often hard to separate people’s humanity from their myths. Case in point; Winston Churchill. Some see him as a giant – the man who guided Britain to victory (although it might have been somewhat Pyrrhic) over the Nazis.
However others report that he was a bit of a bastard. Certainly he failed to impress a woman at a party who said, “If I were married to you, I’d give you poison.”
But one cannot deny the man’s wit (just check out his quotes) for he replied, “If I were married to you – I’d drink it.”
