Herman the German was primarily a novelist – but he was also a thinker.
Thus his books contained great insight (read “Steppenwolf” some time – then you will see what I mean).
But it is one of his quotes that gives me pause; “If you hate a person, you hate something in him that is part of yourself. What isn’t part of ourselves doesn’t disturb us.”
Which makes one wonder about all those Brits who PASSIONATELY hate pædophiles and racists…
